Color scheme

NLB Brand Identity Visual refreshment 2023

Bright backgrounds are most frequent in the color scheme while accent colors are added with selected color combinations. Color proportions must consider that the presentation of information and its transparency is more important than chromaticity.

Color combinations are pre-defined and consist of primary color and the accent color. The selection of a color combination for each individual application should be conditioned with the type, purpose and functionality of the application.

Color combinations

The primary color visually connects the entire application and is used for more important elements such as the background of the application icon, launch screen background, menu header background, application header, etc. Accent colors are intended to expose individual application elements such as buttons, links, tabs, etc.

The application of the accent color allows exceptions (e.g. when it is necessary to select the primary color or to use another appropriate color combination due to the specifics or the clearness of the element). Examples of two exceptions:

  • Active screen of the menu in a grey/green color combination: The selected screens of the menu should be colored in the primary grey color. Because the screens of the menu are already primary grey, the selected screens would not be visible therefore it is necessary to use the accent color.
  • Action elements in the green/orange color combination: Because the orange accent color of interaction elements is very powerful it is necessary to use a more relaxed primary color for tabs, interaction elements, etc.

Color proportions

The proportion and volume of hue varies from application to application. The primary considerations should be transparency, lightness, and color saturation.
