SOCIALLY RESPONSIBLE PROJECTS

Protection of the environment, exercising social responsibility and ensuring sustainable development of the NLB.

In total, through donations and sponsorships, NLB d.d. has supported over 50 organisations and local communities in the area of culture, sports and other social activities.

"Spring Awakening" project of NLB Banka Belgrade

In 2015, some retired persons in Serbia received a special surprise. The renovation was enabled by NLB Banka Belgrade which, in the Spring Awakening campaign, also took care of the renovation of the premises of the pensioners in the Serbian towns of Novi Sad, Kragujevac and Bačka Palanka. The bank's employees themselves also took building and painting tool in their hands to help work. Until recently, these activities had been carried out in a totally worn-out building. Now, the members of an almost ten thousand-member association are already meeting in renovated premises.

Several times a year, we deliver packages with humanitarian aid to our members with the lowest income. Besides, we visit sick pensioners and prepare various lectures and public debates in our premises. We also invite doctors to advise us on a healthy life style.

This was the first time that a large company had decided on its own to help a pensioners’ organisation.

Momo Čolaković, president of Novi Sad Pensioners

The Association is a place where pensioners can resolve a large part of their daily problems and needs. Therefore, this donation truly means a lot to pensioners. Above all, it is a pleasant surprise that someone, in this case NLB Banka Belgrade, tries to improve the general socio-economic position of the pensioners.

NLB Vita - Programme for children and young people in Cankarjev dom

Cankarjev dom as the central Slovenian cultural institution offers a wide range of cultural and artistic educational events. We supported the programme for children and young people in the 2015/2016 school year. Children will be able to take out the My First Subscription (Moj Prvi Abonma), youth the The Best Subscription (Dbest Abonma), and secondary school and university students the Serious Subscription (Ta Hud Abonma). The subscriptions are for combined shows and adjusted concerts accompanied by creative workshops and didactic material. At events, youth also meet the artists whom they can talk to.

NLB Vita Reading Hours under a Straw Hat

"Reading Hours under a Straw Hat" is a festival which has been organised for five years in a row and promotes leisure reading in youth, at the same time promoting tolerance. It takes place under the auspices of UNESCO in several towns in Slovenia – Domžale, Tolmin and Nova Gorica. In the scope of the festival, more than 100 events will take place at schools, in kindergartens and libraries. Reading is the basis of various creative events, workshops, meetings with authors and exhibitions.

By supporting the NLB Vita festival we have been strengthening the reading culture among youth.

Reading stories with youth

The NLB Contact Centre organised and carried out 25 events for youth. The events were organised in cooperation with Jasna, a non-governmental society, all over the country. Upon donating a book, we organised an event for children in kindergartens and schools. We read a story from the donated book, talked to children, sang and drew. On average 20 children with childcare workers/teachers attended each event.

Magic Day in Kranjska gora, Bled and Arboretum with NLB Vita

For years we have been participating in all Magic Day events, where fun is guaranteed for the entire family. Children had a chance to participate in more than 60 sports, dance, musical, exercise and creative children's workshops in the fairy-tale land. There were also numerous surprises. At the NLB Vita stall, children were given T-shirts to scribble on as their parents discussed life insurance.

NLB Vita event at the ZOO

In cooperation with the Ljubljana ZOO, NLB Vita every last Saturday of August every year organises an event on the last Saturday of every August where children and their parents learn lots of new things about animals. The main topic this year was toys for animals. At this event, the visitors made toys for their pets and took part in making toys for animals at the ZOO.

With the support and in cooperation with the ZOO we indirectly thank clients for their loyalty and will endeavour to ensure that the ZOO keeps developing.

"Organic" competition of NLB Banka Belgrade

Over 40 registered farms have applied to the competition organised by NLB Banka Belgrade for best organic food production and processing projects, whereby NLB Banka Belgrade promotes the further development of sustainable agricultural production. The expert jury decided that the best project was that of Radomir Grujičić, a certified organic food producer from the Grujičić farm in the Municipality of Brezovica, who received RSD 1 million from the fund totalling RSD 1.4 million.

NLB Banka Belgrade rewarded three top projects for organic food production and processing.

The second place was taken by Stevica Kračun Jel from Dupljaj near Bela Crkva and the third award recipient was Milorad Ačimovič from Futog.

NLB Banka Belgrade is permanently focusing on support and work in agriculture. A competition to which ever more organic food producers apply every year proves that we selected the right and most socially responsible segment of agricultural production. Organic food production and processing has been expanding and is a recognised opportunity for profit as well as a method and philosophy for maintaining a healthy life style. NLB Banka Belgrade supports farmers who participate in the subsidised support programme for loans of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment Protection.

NLB Banka Belgrade donated for reconstruction of a park in the Voždovac Municipality

Upon the opening of a branch in the Voždovac Municipality, the representatives of NLB Banka Belgrade this September donated funds for the renovation of the city park at Mestrovićeva Ulica in Belgrade.

Since Ulica Vojvode Stepe had been renovated, making the area more attractive for local investments, NLB Banka Belgrade decided to open a branch in one of the busiest streets in Belgrade. I am certain that the further development of the town and Voždovac Municipality, as well as the adaptability and willingness of those responsible in the municipality will lead to an ever greater interest in local investments by other companies.
