NLB Visions

The exhibition of student assignments from the end of semester of the Interior Design subject at the faculty of Architecture in Ljubljana this year, showing development potential for interor planning, with the focus on human sensibility, space atmosphere and compatibility of forms.

As part of the subject selected at the faculty, the students were given an assignment to create a new image for the NLB branch(es). They carefully studied the existing branches and talked to the employees before they started working on their first sketches and collages. In order to align and upgrade their knowledge they had an opportunity during this process to get weekly revisions and several public reviews in the NLB Innovative Banking Centre.

The goal of this exhibition is to show the diversity of interior public premises of the banks with a historically standard image characterised by words like authority, power, sovereignty. The students described their alternative solutions with words like atrium, temple, lounge, public park, business market, urban garden and even sharing, which were their guiding points for the underlying idea of composing the space.

The challenge hidden in such assignments is to anticipate people’s needs, meet your client’s expectations in the context of time and place, at the same time garnishing it with your special designer flavour. As it happens with good music, interior design also requires a certain poetic inspiration. Successfully bringing all these elements together helps both visitors and employees feel welcome, relaxed, full of energy, confident and secure.
